Meet Eamon Doggett
Eamon has been involved in sports journalism for over six years. If asked to identify his enduring sporting passion, however, horse racing would always be the answer. Eamon has a keen interest in Canadian horse races. Most of all, he enjoys writing betting-themed articles that can give punters an edge over bookmakers for more profitable bets. He is an advocate of betting on big-priced outsiders for long-term gain and making the best use of alternative markets.
From Meath in Ireland, Eamon has been involved in sports journalism for over six years. He studied Business and Politics at Trinity College in Dublin before pursuing a Master’s Degree in Writing at NUI Galway.
After graduating from Galway, he had a short stint in accountancy before starting a job for the Irish Daily Mirror newspaper. Writing about a wide range of sports – including horse racing, golf, soccer, rugby, boxing, and MMA – he quickly got the opportunity to interview many sports stars and establish a large network of contacts in the industry.
If asked to identify his enduring sporting passion, however, horse racing would always be the answer. Since asking his father to put a bet on the legendary royal blue silks of Frankie Dettori (as he liked the colour), he developed a keen interest in the sport that would extend to a knowledge way beyond the colour of the horse’s silks!
While he attended many local race meetings – Navan, Laytown, Bellewstown, and Fairyhouse – his position in a newspaper allowed him enviable access to many of the racing’s most prominent figures. He has covered major events in the UK and Ireland, like the Cheltenham Festival and the Punchestown Festival.
Along with interviewing prominent figures in the Irish horse racing industry like Joseph O’Brien, Ruby Walsh and Jack Kennedy, Eamon also has a keen interest in global racing affairs, including the growing industry in Ontario. Most of all, he enjoys writing betting-themed articles that can give punters an edge over bookmakers and make their betting more profitable and enjoyable.
With a belief in always trying to pick the battles in which you have the fairest chance of winning, Eamon is an advocate of betting on big-priced outsiders for long-term gain and making the best use of alternative markets.
